Station Appendage Construction on Wilshire Blvd. between San Vicente Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd.

Summary

Beginning in March 2021, work activities at the Wilshire/La Cienega Station will transition to the construction of appendage structures adjacent to the underground station box. These structures house vital systems for the future Wilshire/La Cienega Station, including entrance and exit structures, emergency exits, ventilation rooms, and utility rooms. This work will require various intermittent and semi-permanent lane reductions and full and directional closures to support the construction.

Where

  • Wilshire Blvd. between San Vicente Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd.

Traffic Control*

North Side of Wilshire Blvd. – Phase 1A, 1B, and 1C*

  • Phase 1A will be implemented in early March and will be in place for approximately 19 months. This phase of work will include the following traffic restrictions:
    • Wilshire Blvd. between San Vicente Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd. will be reduced to two lanes in each direction.
    • Left turns from eastbound and westbound Wilshire Blvd. onto Gale Dr. will be restricted.
    • Left turns from South Tower Dr. onto Wilshire Blvd. will be restricted.
    • The north sidewalk between San Vicente Blvd. and Gale Dr. will be closed. A pedestrian detour will be implemented on the south sidewalk of Wilshire Blvd.
  • Phase 1B is anticipated to be implemented in January 2022 and will be in place for approximately 4 months. This phase of work will include the following traffic restrictions:
    • All traffic restrictions from Phase 1A.
    • N Gale Dr. will be fully closed north of Wilshire Blvd. Access to 8383 Wilshire Blvd. and the residential properties will be maintained from San Vicente Blvd.
  • Phase 1C is anticipated to be implemented in April 2022 and will be in place for approximately 7 months. This phase of work will include the following traffic restrictions:
    • All traffic restrictions from Phase 1A.
    • Southbound Gale Dr. from north of Wilshire Blvd. to Wilshire Blvd. will be closed to through traffic. Northbound traffic on Gale Dr. will be maintained.

 South Side of Wilshire Blvd. – Phase 2A and 2B*

  • Phase 2 (A&B) is anticipated to be implemented in November 2022 and will be in place for approximately 9 months. This phase of work will include the following traffic restrictions:
    • Wilshire Blvd. between Le Doux Rd. and Tower Dr. will be reduced to two lanes in each direction.
    • Left turns from Wilshire Blvd. onto Hamilton Dr. and Gale Dr. will be restricted.
    • Through traffic on southbound Gale Dr. through the Wilshire/Gale intersection may be intermittently restricted.

*Pending approval from City of Beverly Hills.

Access

  • Access for Emergency Vehicles & First Responders will be maintained.
  • Access to the north and south crosswalks at Gale Dr. may be restricted depending on which phase of work is implemented.
  • Access to crosswalks at Gale Dr. may be restricted depending on which phase of work is implemented.

  • Construction within project staging yards is 24-hours/day. 
  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
