As part of the Federal government’s Coronavirus Guidance for America, transportation infrastructure is considered an “Essential Critical Infrastructure.” Additionally, transit capital projects are not subject to the State of California’s Stay at Home order, therefore Metro construction projects continue to progress.
Metro contractors will conduct minor potholing (investigation) in an eastbound lane of the 1st Street Bridge on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25. The investigation will define the location of newly discovered rails. The investigation must occur before construction proceeds below the 1st Street Bridge. One eastbound traffic lane will remain open. There will be intermittent noise from jackhammering and saw cutting of the street surface. The street will be restored once the investigation ends.
