Metro Green Line Station Weekend Closures Will Not be in Effect this Labor Day Holiday Weekend

Wednesday August 28, 2019

The Metro Green Line station’s weekend closures will not be in effect this Labor Day holiday weekend, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) announced today.

Green Line rail service will be maintained through this Labor Day weekend, Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, 2019. However, the weekend closures between the Crenshaw Station and Redondo Beach Station will resume the following weekend at 9 p.m. Friday, September 6.

Metro suspended weekend rail service from July 12 through the fall of 2019 to continue work to connect Green Line with the new Crenshaw/LAX Line.

The rail connection between the Green and the Crenshaw/LAX lines began construction last January when rail tracks were installed, followed by the installation of overhead power lines. The closures will allow Metro to begin testing rail systems software.

Metro thanks riders for their patience as the agency prepares to open the Crenshaw/LAX Line in 2020. The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light rail train with eight new stations serving the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities.
